"Dear representatives of the Alliance of Free Trade Unions of Serbia,

Alliance president Nebojša Aleksić speaking at the Koštana workers' protest
Nebojša Aleksić at the third Koštana workers' protest in Vranje, 12 May 2026

remember, from today and for the rest of your lives, that the state is a monopoly of force and that power often rules through fear spread via its institutions — the army, the police, the prosecution, and sometimes the courts. Therefore, as people who stand with workers and the people, you will spend your entire lives in conflict with injustice, defending people from abuses of power.

No government is immune to the temptation of abusing power. That is precisely why your role is to be the voice of workers, to resist pressures, to protect human dignity, and to not allow fear to become a tool for controlling the people.

A representative of the Alliance of Free Trade Unions of Serbia is not just a position — it is a responsibility, an obligation, and an honor. Only if you stand with the people, if you speak the truth, and if you fight for justice, will you earn the respect and trust that this struggle carries.

Your path is not easy, but it is righteous. So stand tall, remain loyal to the workers, and do not give up the fight for justice and human dignity."

Nebojša Aleksić, President of the Alliance of Free Trade Unions of Serbia
