Savez slobodnih sindikata Srbije jasno poručuje: dostojanstvo rada, bezbednost ljudi i zaštita javnog dobra nisu predmet trgovine. Kada korupcija počinje da odnosi živote, strah prestaje da bude sredstvo vlasti. Danas je strah na strani režima, a odgovornost i solidarnost na strani građana.
Nebojša Aleksić predsednik Saveza slobodnih sindikata Srbije

**FEAR IS NOW ON THE SIDE OF THE REGIME**
Thirteen years of rule by the Serbian Progressive Party have been marked by scandals, corruption, and systemic impunity. From infrastructure tragedies and the sell-off of national resources to open confrontation with citizens and students in the streets, a system was built in which accountability is absent even when human lives are lost.
The collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station, plans to demolish the General Staff complex, lithium mining in the Jadar Valley, the emergence of the illegal “Ćaciland” camp, and the crisis at the Petroleum Industry of Serbia have exposed a regime founded on pressure and fear. For the first time in more than a decade, that fear has changed sides.
The death of sixteen people in Novi Sad sparked the largest protests in Serbia’s recent history. Student blockades and civic resistance put accountability at the center and showed that society is no longer willing to remain silent. Attempts by the authorities to intimidate the public through para-institutional structures and illegal camps have been condemned domestically and internationally, including by European Union institutions.
The return of the “Jadar” project against the clear will of citizens, efforts to strip cultural heritage protections for private gain, and sanctions that pushed NIS into crisis all reflect the same policy: decisions made without the public interest, with workers and citizens paying the price.
The Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Serbia states clearly: the dignity of work, people’s safety, and the protection of public goods are not negotiable. When corruption begins to take lives, fear ceases to be a tool of power. Today, fear is on the side of the regime, while responsibility and solidarity stand with the citizens.
Nebojša Aleksić President of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Serbia
